What is LARP

A growing hobby across the U.S.

LARP stands for Live Action Roleplaying. There are as many different styles of LARP as there are styles of fiction, but at it's most basic LARP is any event where you take on the role of someone other than your everyday self and physically portray that role in the world of the game. Some LARPS are light on roleplay, and some lean heavy into roleplay.  Some are relaxed with their kit standards, and some have distinct, bordering on movie quality, standards for kits and clothing. The important thing is to find the style of play and genre that works for you.

About Incursion

Incursion is a new immersive fantasy event based in New England. The story takes place in the world of Veliran and is focused around the competing factions of Seravel, Castonia, Thrithoda, and Kazmara. Each faction is trying to stake their claim on an island called the Silent Isle, an island full of previously unknown resources, and unseen dangers. The world of Veliran is a fantasy setting where, magic and fantastic creatures exist with moderate rarity, but enough commonality that layfolk may have seen certain creatures. A Griffin carrying off a farmers lamb for instance.

The gameplay features elements of resource acquisition, diplomacy, combat, crafting, and subterfuge. You'll create your character, choose a faction, and then enter a world full of danger, adventure, and intrigue.

Expedition leaders receive their orders from their homeland at the beginning of the event. No factions are guaranteed to have the same goals beyond retrieving specific rare resources.

Gameplay

The gameplay in Incursion is designed so that every player in the faction has the ability to contribute effectively to the success of your expedition. Whether you're a fighter, a tradesperson, a magic user, or a ne'er do well, your talents are needed. What talents you choose for your character will determine what sort of gameplay you'll be able to effectively participate in, someone who's focused on crafting potions and healing will not make for an effective combatant and vice versa. Think about what kind of gameplay most appeals to you. Combatant, Healer, Magic User, Tradesperson, or a Thief/Brigand. Perhaps your style of gameplay sits somewhere between those options. That's where our talent tree system comes into play.  In order to read the rules and understand the basics check out our Gameplay page to fully understand how the world runs.

Character Creation

In the world of Vaerün your character can be almost anything, and every skill is needed. Regardless of whether you enjoy combat, magic, crafting, skullduggery, or any combination of those styles of roleplay, there's an option for you.

Incursion uses a talent tree system that will let you select up to three talents. What talents you choose will affect how your character interacts with the world of Vaerün, they will determine what arms & armors your character can use, whether your character can use magic, make potions, or assassinate key targets for your faction, Some advanced talents require you to delve into a specific tree, foregoing versatility for specialization.

After you know what talents you want your character to have, you choose what faction you want them to belong to...
